So you want to ride trails?

Mountain biking is a sport of riding bicycles off-road, often over rough terrain, using specially designed bikes. These bikes share similarities with other bikes but incorporate features designed to enhance durability and performance in rough terrain. Mountain biking can generally be broken down into multiple categories: cross country, trail riding, all mountain (also referred to as "Enduro"), downhill, freeride and dirt jumping.  Ref. wikipedia

So you want to ride gravel?

Gravel riding (or adventure riding), is an increasingly popular form of biking that combines both road-biking and mountain-biking.  Consisting of mostly riding over unpaved, dirt or gravel roads.  Trails must be non-technical and unsurfaced to be considered as gravel riding.  Most gravel riding is located in rural areas.Rural areas provide the opportunity to discover some incredibly scenic areas that one can only experience during an adventure off the beaten path.
